II. Family Typhlopidea and Lyptoptyhlopidae
All snakes of these two families are non-poisonous and worm or thread like in appearance. It has been implied that they are not snakes at all, but are burrowing lizards because of their dissimilarities from other snakes. Their length usually varies from 100 - 150 mm and the diameter of the body is same from head to tail. The body is soft, shiny and covered with smooth scales. These snakes show variation in colour. They are burrower and possess tiny eyes, which are of no use below the ground. They either possess very poor vision or are completely blind. These snakes are found in a variety of habitats such as deserts, gardens and forests and normally feed on small and tiny insects. All the species of this family are terrestrial and oviparous.
These snakes are also found in South America, Africa, Europe and Asia. In Pakistan, 2 genera and 2 species of the family Typhlopidae and 1 genus and 2 species of the family Leptotyphlopidae are found
