Gyps fulvus (Hablizl)

Identification: It is a huge sized bird measuring about 97 cm. in length. It has a brown coloured plumage and a long white neck. At the base of the neck is a creamy white ruff. The crop patch is brown encircled by white.

Habitat: It is commonly found in the semi-desert areas, near and around hills and mountains.

Distribution: It is a resident bird of Sindh, Punjab, Balochistan and NWFP.

Breeding: It breeds in the mountains between 2500 and 3000m. elevations. It lays one egg per clutch.

Food: It feeds exclusively upon carrion.

Status: Frequent
