Black Kite
Milvus migrans migrans (Boddaert)

Identification: It measures about 61 cm. in length. It has a dark brown plumage, whitish head with blackish streaks. The upper body is paler brown and rufous in colour.

Habitat: It is found in tropical forests, deserts, marshes, rivers but generally prefers to live in woody surroundings within close proximity to human habitation.

Distribution: It is found in North-eastern Balochistan and NWFP.

Breeding: Breeds in April, May and June and lays 2-3 eggs.

Food: It feeds on all kinds of things from small insects to small birds, offal, garbage, carrion, etc.

Status: Abundant
