Central Asian Shikra
Accipiter badius cenchroides (Severtzov)

Identification: It is a small bird about the size of a crow measuring 31-36 cm. in length. The overall body colour is more brown than gray. The undersides have pale and chestnut barrings that extend from the throat to lower belly. The tail appears plain gray when it is at rest.

Habitat: It is found in better cultivated and wooded parts of the country, around kandi plantation.

Distribution: It is a resident bird, found throughout Pakistan.

Breeding: It breeds between March and June and has been reported to breed in Balochistan and NWFP. The number of eggs vary between 3-4 and rarely may even go upto 5.

Food
: It feeds on small mammals, small birds, lizards, frogs and insects.
