The shape of leaves and canopy of trees is such that it ensures best conditions for the nourishment of trees.

Trees grown under condition of competition are comparatively straight and tall with a long trunk and a restricted crown.

Flowers are the reproductive organs of the tree, they contain stamens which produce pollen (containing male sex cells) and a pistil ( containing the ovules - the female sex cells which develop into seeds.)

Trees and shrubs are perennials, i.e. they do not die in winter.

Atmospheric carbon-dioxide is the tree's main source of food, together with water, chlorophyll and sunlight.This is processed by the leaf into organic compounds, through which the tree obtains nourishment.

The size, structure, colour and scent of a flower help to ensure that pollination takes place.
The variety of flower structures in the trees reflects the different ways in which the flowers are pollinated.
A tree is a self-sustaining ecosystem having all the abiotic and biotic components.

Trees grow in length by division of the cells at the tip of their shoots; they grow in thickness by the production of wood.

Roots not only anchor the tree to the ground, but also absorb water and nutrients dissolved in it, and serve as storage for the food supplies.

Plants, animals and people all need each other. Plants make oxygen that people and animals breathe; people and animals exhale carbon dioxide that plants need to live on.

Plants and trees help to reduce air pollution by absorbing some pollutants from the air.

Many forests are cleared each day to make land available for roads, car parks, homes and businesses.

If every person planted a couple of seeds, there would be more than 100 million more plants growing every year making the earth a healthier place to live in.

It takes years for a tree to grow for making paper. It takes many forests to make paper that we use.and throw away.

The British use 81/2 million tons of paper every year-that is equivalent to 90 million trees.
